King of Bramble Bay Regatta

The first race of the King of Bramble Bay was run today, a long course around fixed marks taking in all of Bramble Bay.

Not to mention names, but after one boat had a little snafu on the start line, the fleet headed towards Woody Point on a mission to locate the Otter Rock Buoy. Some boats were heading towards Redcliffe, some towards Bells Beach at Clontarf but eventually it was found and the secret was out. Then a long leg to Kedron Brook/Shultz’s Canal/“the floodway” was the next navigation challenge for the teams followed by a return to the finish via the Fisheries Beacon. An elapsed time of 1hr 47 minutes for the winning boat.

Day 2 will start with a dedication service at10:00, for the naming of the clubs boat shed in memory of Keith Nickerson. All are invited to attend before we launch our boats for races around set marks, which may include windward/leeward and triangle courses.
