On Sunday SYC held the last races for the 2024/25 Summer sailing season, competing for the ANZAC Memorial Trophy. The weather was fruity with a strong breeze from the SE and swell from the east. 2 races were conducted under the control of “Big” John Mitchell and Triangle-Sausage-Triangle courses were prescribed. With a stronger 15-18 knot breeze these triangles made up for a lack of this course being used this year with the crews surfing and planing on the reaches and downwinds, a great way to finish the season. Chris and Lindsay on SNAffU managed to secure 2 wins, Neil and Graeme on Ffunnily Enuff 2 second places, and Dean and young Harry Cuneo scored 2 third places.
The ANZAC Memorial Trophy was found at the back of the club’s trophy cabinet, was dusted off and put back into seasons calendar. It will be great to see this trophy at the front of the cabinet once again.
