Anne Verdon and Spike Verdon, with RO John Mitchell presenting the Verdon Shield to this years winners Greg and Laurie Williamson. There were tough conditions for Sunday’s racing with 18+ knots from the SE. The fleet consisted of 3 Flying Fifteens, a 505 and a Lightweight Sharpie.
Anne and husband Tom were strong supporters of the club for many years. Many Junior’s were brought through the club and went onto further their sailing. Tom had a reputation for being one to follow and enforce the sailing rules of the day.
Tom’s father, Reg (the namesake of the trophy) was a founding member of the Sandgate Yacht Club.
Spike represents the 3rd generation of the Verdon family at Sandgate YC which we are grateful and proud to share.
